Global LNG trade up 8% in 2007

A new report by US consultant Facts Global Energy has found that global trading of liquefied natural gas rose 8% last year due to cold winter temperatures and the closure of nuclear plants in Japan, reported Bloomberg. Supplies of LNG rose to 172.5 million metric tons from 159.5 million tons a year earlier. The US and Mexico together purchased 42% more LNG last year at 18.2 million tons, while Asia grew 10% to 112.2 million tons. Supplies to Europe fell by 6% to 41 million tons.
