The all-day event showcased new products and services from the PATA region's leading tourism boards, including Australia, India, Korea, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand and New Zealand.
The event was sponsored by the InterContinental Dubai Festive City Hotel (IHG); Qatar Airways and Business Travel Show Dubai, and also partner with the region's most prestigious media groups; ITP (Arabian Travel News), The Times & Sunday Times, City 7 TV and Asfaar.
Fusion Marketing, a specialist PR agency for travel, tourism and hotels, and regional representative office for The Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA), orchestrated the event using a refreshing interactive concept.
"For this event, we used an 'Oprah style' set-up with the intention of drawing everyone closer for open discussion. We found the result was effective and rewarding," said Nicki Page, Executive Director of Fusion Marking Management, LLC and regional director of PATA.
Positive feedback from participants of Travel, and Tourism sectors was overwhelming.
Leo Fewtrell, Manager of DTTAG, Dubai Travel & Tour Agents Group said:
"It was an excellent opportunity to spread the DTTAG message and it was great to get direct response from the travel trade whether positive or negative. Open lines of communication are vital in order to increase understanding".
During the event, the roundtable discussion was facilitated by Group Senior Editor of Arabian Travel News, Gemma Greenwood; the discussion panel also included Peter Hoslin, Head of Marketing, Abu Dhabi Airports Company; Rimzie Ismail, General Manager, Dubai Airport; Leo Fewtrell, Manager, Dubai Travel and Tour Agents Group.
Fusion Marketing plans to organize on behalf of The Pacific Asia Travel Association two industry events in 2008.
With the first one ending on such a successful high note, the second one will be held, on June 16th 2008, and targets the corporate segment aiming to educate and encourage decision makers to explore MICE business in the Asia Pacific region.
