Markets drop again

The UK and US stock markets suffered another volatile trading session yesterday. The FTSE 100 closed down 1.1% or 60.2 points, at 5,545.6, as concerns over the banking sector continued to trouble the market. Halifax Bank of Scotland (HBOS) closed down 7.1%, recovering from a 17% drop in earlier trading. In the US, the Dow Jones, Nasdaq and S&P500 all fell sharply. The Dow closed at 12,099.66, down 293 points, a 2.36% drop, just a day after recording a 3.5% surge. Nasdaq closed at 2,209.96, down 2.57% and S&P500 was 1,298.42, a 2.43% fall. Markets in Asia, Australia and New Zealand also fell.
