Construction on the Emirates Precinct began earlier this year, with completion scheduled for the third quarter of 2009. Emirates will feature 856 studios and 756 one-bedroom units. In addition to the residential units, 52 units will be handed over for commercial use.
Engineer Rashid AL- Helli, Director of International City said: 'We are very excited to announce the tenth and final precinct and we are particularly proud that it will add a local feel to our internationally themed development. Emirates Precinct presents the beauty and timelessness of traditional regional architecture, adding to the wide variety of styles that make this development truly international.'
International City began construction in 2003 and comprises of the Residential District that includes 387 buildings and the Central District that includes 34 plots that are currently under construction by private developers. Neighboring developments include the Dragon Mart Complex and Al Warsan Lake.
The ten internationally themed communities that make up the Residential District of International City are: Emirates, China, England, France, Greece, Italy, Morocco, Persia & Russia.
Situated 12 km from Dubai International Airport, International City's location, combined with its affordability, make it an instant magnet for local and international businesses, retailers, commercial establishments, traders, residents and tourists.
The project was designed as an integrated multi purpose development to meet the increasing demand for affordable housing in Dubai. International City will be home to more than 70,000 people by the end of 2008.
