Patton Boggs LLP recently hosted a group of senior students from Qatar University's College of Law to assist them in a project titled "The General Legal Survey".

The students' visit to Patton Boggs is part of a national effort to collect information regarding the legal and judicial environment in Qatar, its instrumentalities, and the bodies and government agencies that make up the system.

The survey focuses on financial services and commercial activities in Qatar.

Students involved in the project are expected to engage with local practitioners, government officials, academics and other sources, to understand these ideas on legal reform.

The students' visit was arranged by Salman Al Ansari an associate trainee at the firm and also Assistant Professor at the Qatar University College of Law.

During their visit, students were given an inside look at the firm and interviewed Doha Managing Partner Robert Hager, Partners Will Cattan, and Sonia Barber who shared their thoughts on practicing law in Qatar and recent legal developments impacting the financial business communities.

"We are delighted to support Qatari students, by sharing our years of practical experience with them, and answering their insightful questions as to the legal environment and practice in Qatar. We were very impressed by the students we met and hope they will become future leaders of the legal profession in Qatar" noted Mr. Hager.

The visit will help the students in developing their findings which will be published as a reference booklet and highlighted by student presentations in the Qatar Law Forum.
