OITE announces the launch of the 9th Gulf Higher Education Exhibition

The most awaited 9th consecutive Gulf Higher Education Exhibition (GHEDEX) is just around the corner.

To be organized by Oman International Trade & Exhibitions (OITE) at the Oman International Exhibition Centre, Seeb from 7th to 9th April, 2008, the event is all set to take off as elaborated at the press conference at the Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry. OITE announced that the Gulf Higher Education Exhibition along with its parallel events TRAINEX - Technology Education and Vocational Training Exhibition and JOBEX - Omanisation and Job Opportunities Exhibition will be organized in the second largest city in the Sultanate of Oman from 12 to 13 April, 2008 at Haffa House Hotel.

Dignitaries present included officials from the Ministry of Education, Ministry of Higher Education, Ministry of Manpower and the senior management of OITE. Supported by UNESCO and the British Council, the show also has DAAD as platinum and visitor bag sponsor, Majan college, OGTech, Sohar University, Ajman University of Science & Technology, Study in Holland, Arab Open University, Oman Tourism College, Study in Australia and College of Banking & Financial Studies as platinum sponsors, Dhofar University, Caledonian College of Engineering and Waljat Colleges of Applied Sciences as gold sponsors and Abu Dhabi University as silver sponsor.

'Last year GHEDEX was attended by over 14,500 visitors comprising of potential students, young professionals, higher education policy makers, academics, parents and education aid suppliers. This year we have many new universities and colleges participating hence providing even more choices and options for the public', said Mr. Saif Hamdan Al Riyami, Sales Executive - Exhibitions, GHEDEX, OITE.

Mr. Sadiq Ahmed Khan, Director - Sales & Marketing, OITE, elucidated,

'The Gulf Higher Education Exhibition has grown year after year establishing itself as the Sultanate's leading and most important higher education exhibition. Being organized under the patronage of Ministry of Higher Education, the event has made an outstanding contribution to enhance higher education standards in Oman.'



Over the last 8 years, the event has grown from strength to strength to become the largest education exhibition in the Sultanate of Oman. The exhibition now holds the enviable position of being Arabia's First and Only UFI Approved event and has witnessed significant growth in size with participation from Bahrain, Qatar, UAE, Cyprus, Egypt, India, Malaysia, Australia, Canada, Germany, Netherlands, New Zealand, Russia, Qatar and the UK.

Mr. Nick Hodge, Managing Director, OITE, mentioned that TRAINEX, Technical Education and Vocational Training Exhibition organized under the auspices of Ministry of Manpower, will cater to short term job specific courses hence fast tracking the part towards employment in Oman.

The press conference illuminated the importance of such an event and also was a platform to introduce two new events being launched for the first time in Oman: EDUTECH - Education Technology and Services show and Schoolex - Private, International & Boarding Schools show which would bring the use of modern technology in the field of education to the fore and provide options in school level education for locals and expatriates alike.
