  • PRESS RELEASE

Omniyat Properties, the most forward-thinking and innovative property development company and the real estate development arm of Omniyat Holdings, has awarded the main construction contract for The Opus, its much anticipated commercial and retail development in Dubai's Business Bay, to Multiplex (trading in Dubai as Nasa Multiplex), one of the leading commercial construction contractors in the Middle East region.

The multi-million dirham contract, whose Letter of Acceptance (LoA) was signed recently in Dubai by Mehdi Amjad, President and CEO, Omniyat Properties and Graeme Robson, CEO of Multiplex Middle East & Asia, scopes Multiplex to manage the development's construction and ensure on-time and on-budget delivery.

Awarding the contract, Mehdi Amjad said, "The main driver behind awarding the construction contract of The Opus to Multiplex is their track record of delivering highly complex, prestigious and challenging projects. We are confident that Omniyat and Multiplex can work in tandem to complete The Opus in a timely and cost effective manner".

Situated on a unique "island" plot in Dubai's Business Bay, The Opus is strategically positioned to offer its tenants exclusivity, with a spectacular view of Burj Dubai and the Signature Towers, without any adjoining properties or projects.

"We are happy to be part of a project which is marking a new era for commercial development in Dubai. Our expertise, which spans over a decade in the Middle East, has successfully delivered prestigious projects such as the Emirates Towers and The Gate Development at the DIFC amongst others. With The Opus we hope to set a new bench mark in the delivery of our services and value that we can offer our clients," said Graeme Robson, CEO of Multiplex.

The Opus is designed with the commercial tenant in mind who would be blue chip companies and high net worth individuals expecting high standards and luxury in everything they do, including work. Although it is not due for delivery until 2010, over 80% of The Opus is already sold out.

Designed by world renowned architect, Zaha Hadid, the award -winning project which is valued at over Dhs1.7bn, will enhance the skyline of Dubai's Business Bay with an iconic, artistic and unique architectural design.

Conceptualized as a cube with a central fluid form 'void', The Opus has been designed with Omniyat's proprietary Oyster approach which provides distinctive features, such as a tranquility zone, a beach deck, a reflective pool, media zone and spa.

The development will comprise three towers with three floors dedicated to retail outlets and restaurants.

"The project has earned distinctions from the international development community for its bold architectural design and functionality, and won several awards, including the 2007 LiveCom External Experience Award from the UK's International Visual Communication Association, Europe's largest professional body for business and public sector communicators." added Amjad.
