USAID supports a workshop entitled "Board & Corporate Governance"

The United States Agency for International Development, through the USAID-funded Sustainable Achievement of Business Expansion and Quality Program, supported a workshop organized by Hawkamah, an Institute for Corporate Governance created to advance corporate governance reform.
The workshop aimed to introduce proven methods of implementing good corporate governance from firm level perspectives, while integrating economic factors and outlooks.
Additional objectives included raising awareness levels regarding international best practices on board remuneration. The workshop was conducted with relevant case studies to allow participants to benchmark their board practices with other companies in emerging markets.
Mohammad Al-Shami, Jostone CEO, stated: "This workshop will help Jostone board members and its member companies to work closely and more effectively in order to enhance the productivity and activities of our association".
In conjunction with its partner, the International Finance Corporation (IFC), Hawkamah prepared this course program of international quality to assist current and potential directors in the region equip themselves for the challenges of performing in a developing global environment.
The USAID-funded Sustainable Achievement of Business Expansion and Quality Program (SABEQ) is a five year broad economic development initiative implemented by BearingPoint, Inc. and a sizeable team of international and Jordanian partner firms.
By both supporting improvements in the business environment and providing assistance to expand innovation and productivity in Jordanian businesses, to support the main objective of building up the private sector as a powerful engine of economic growth.
