As one of the most vital economic and industrial sectors in the modern world, the oil and gas industry commands the utilisation of highly regulated processes to ensure plant efficiency and reliability, and continuous growth in production. Operating within this industry puts a massive amount of resources at stake, which makes eliminating operator errors of the essence. Keeping in mind the importance of minimising operational risks, 'On-spot' has been designed to train process operators to apply troubleshooting and optimization principles, which have a direct impact on achieving increased capacity, higher yield, improved energy index and improved uptime. The solution is also expected to reduce learning time by an average of 40% and increase comprehension by 40 to 70% compared to traditional training methods.
"There is a growing demand for pilot plants to ensure that students or operators can learn the correct principles and practices of process control and instrumentation, in an environment that emulates a full-scale industrial plant," said ASF Karim, CEO, Edutech.
"Our participation in 'Getenergy 2008' is aimed at leveraging this demand, and we are positive that the launch of our new solution will gain favourable response from the participating training centres from all over the world. We view this event as a perfect platform for us to introduce this world class training and knowledge solutions for process operator training in the oil and gas sector."
Complementing the first-of-its-kind 'On-spot' solution is another product from Edutech - 'PlantMentor', an online training, simulation and certification suite, which provides a highly interactive, web-based operations training. Developed in partnership with RWD Technologies, 'PlantMentor' serves as the first step in operator training by introducing the learner to various processes involved in a plant through a suite of well-designed online courses. The performance-based training solution also integrates simulator exercises and simulation learning environment with unique and highly effective analysis strategies to enhance operators' skills, and incorporates formal testing to support a certification program.
"As a pioneer in implementing this kind of solution and with extensive experience with several important names in the oil and gas sector such as ExxonMobil, Chevron, ConocoPhillips and Shell, we are proud to be continuously pushing the boundaries and presenting customers with the most sophisticated and advanced operator training systems. Our range of on-spot pilot plant solutions along with solutions like PlantMentor is unparalleled in the world today, and we believe that this will motivate organisations to consider them as a part of their training strategies," concluded Karim.
'Getenergy 2008' is a ground-breaking annual event that features exhibitions, networking activities, ministerial debates, industry forums, and now the 'Getenergy Awards', which is set to recognise oil and gas companies that have made the most significant contribution to their staff learning and development in the past 12 months. Providing outstanding opportunities for participants to forge new relationships, find new clients and discover the best new education and training providers in the industry, the event is expected to witness considerable success in its fourth edition this year.
