With an annual growth rate expected at 4.4% over the next 10 years, travel and tourism is one of the world's high priority industries generating 240 million jobs worldwide.
Dubai leads by example in embracing the industry's dynamism to generate employment, wealth, trade, and investment as well as promote international cooperation and understanding.
WTTC President Jean-Claude Baumgarten said:
"On behalf of all WTTC members, we are honoured to partner with Al Arabiya, a highly respected news channel. The synergy will generate optimum visibility for the summit while demonstrating the essential significance of Travel and Tourism to a region-wide audience. Travel and Tourism plays an integral part in meeting human expectations across the world and has been a key driver of global economic development. This is certainly true for the Middle East, and particularly in Dubai, where a commitment to public-private partnership has produced tremendous results in the sector".
Al Arabiya General Manager, Abdul Rahman Al Rashed, said: "As the most credible, balanced and trusted news channel in the Middle East, Al Arabiya is delighted to partner with WTTC. Al Arabiya has remained a key source for reliable political, business and financial news, as well as breaking news, while being widely acknowledged for balanced reporting through a diverse bouquet of regular and special programming.
"Top industry decision makers prefer the Global Travel and Tourism Summit as the most important platform to present groundbreaking ideas, stimulate debate and develop strategies for the future. Our extensive live coverage will focus on top tier industry leaders and highlight news events as they unfold. We will also broadcast significant aspects of the summit for viewers in the region and around the world".
As a forum for progressive change, recognising the importance of dialogue and the free exchange of ideas, experience, and knowledge, the summit's signature Round format steers away from conventional speech-intensive agendas.
The interactive discussions aim to inform and inspire industry and government leaders to act as responsible global citizens in a rapidly evolving world through enabling the travel and tourism industry to nurture the world's natural and cultural environments, while continuing to drive social and economic development globally.
The 8th Global Travel and Tourism Summit will be hosted by the Jumeirah Group and sponsored by pioneering travel and tourism organisations including Dubai's Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing (DTCM); Emirates Group; Jumeirah International, the international luxury hospitality chain that is part of Dubai Holding; Nakheel, one of the largest private property developers; and Dubailand, the region's most ambitious tourism, leisure, and entertainment project that is a part of Tatweer.
