Effat College hosts Career Day

Effat College hosted its seventh annual Career Day on March 17, 2008 under the theme of 'From Generation to Generation: Passing the Torch'.

At Effat Hall, about 400 people attended the rich program of Effat College's Career day. The program commenced with a recitation from the Holly Qura'an followed by a welcoming speech by Dr. Haifa Jamal Al-Lail, the Dean of Effat College. In her speech, she revealed the significance of running such an event when said, "Career Day reflects Effat College's continuous endeavors towards serving community and symbolizes its stable determination towards excellence. It is an open chance for our students and graduates to communicate, learn, gain career counseling, and most importantly meet employers for prospective jobs."

The Dean's speech was followed by an interesting friendly lecture given by Mr. Ziad Jarrar, the Co-Founder and the CEO of SpotMedia. Mr. Jarrar is the Communication Chairman of Young Entrepreneurs of Saudi Arabia and Managing Director of PromoSeven. He is a well-known public speaker and a consultant on effective communication in marketing and advertising. In his speech, he emphasized the importance of getting oneself prepared to hold the torch which is the first step towards successful achievement.

The most prominent feature of the event was the panel discussion. In this discussion, Effat's students: Maysan Mamoun, Hatoun Aseel, and Muneera Al-Saud, Maram Al-Nafie were fully participated to initiate the process of passing the torch. Along with the students, Mr. Najam Khawaja, the CEO of PromoAction, Mr. Helmi Natto, the Vice President of Eye 2 Eye, Ms. Hiba Dialdin, Engineer, Saudi Aramco, and Mr. Ghassan Al-Abdali, Founder and General Director of Photography of What's Up Jeddah were the panellists. The discussion was moderated by Yasmin Sayeb, the Managing Partner of Al-Bayariq and the Director of MBC 1 program "Contemporary Saudi Women".

Besides the two fruitful workshops: "the Starting Point" and "Effective Communication", around 52 companies joined the Job Fair to extend to the maximum the benefit of the Career Day. Nestle, Proctor and Gamble, Samba, Riyadh Bank, BMW and Al-Rowad Schools were among the Exhibitors at the Job Fair. Either collecting CVs for prospective jobs or promoting their services, participated companies were impressed by the huge number of attendees.
