A woman and her son take a moment to sign the 'Ball of Hope'. The Barclays-led campaign ran for the duration of the Barclays Dubai Tennis Championships and raised Dhs100,000 for children's' charities.
The four-metre tall inflatable tennis ball, signed by scores of well-meaning tennis fans, was an initiative brought to this year's tournament by the new title sponsor Barclays Bank.

"We, as Barclays Bank and as individuals, have a commitment to look after the less fortunate members of our community," said Ahmed Khan, Chief Executive, Barclays Emerging Markets. "This initiative allowed the spectators at the Barclays Dubai Tennis Championships to be a part of something that will give encouragement and hope to others, and we couldn't be happier with the results".

The Dhs100,000 will be divided equally between Dubai Duty Free Foundation, an organisation that raises funds for causes that benefit children in underprivileged areas, and the Save the Children, a UK-based organisation that works to protect children caught up in emergencies and catastrophes around the world.
