Samsung Electronics in cooperation with the Higher Colleges of Technology brings 'Alfred Nobel: Networks of Innovation' exhibition to the UAE

In line with its commitment to enhance culture and cultural activities across the globe, Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd, a global innovator and leader in the consumer electronics industry, today announced the debut of the 'Alfred Nobel: Networks of Innovation' Exhibition in Dubai, UAE.

The international exhibition will be hosted, under the patronage of H.E. Sheikh Nahayan Mabarak Al Nahayan, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, UAE, by the Higher Colleges of Technology from March 30th to May 28th 2008 at Dubai Men's College and will make its way world-over, visiting one major world capital per year until 2010.

'The Alfred Nobel: Networks of Innovation' Exhibition aims to spread knowledge, as well as create interest and discussion around the natural sciences and culture, through creative learning and exhibition techniques, modern technology and elegant design. The exhibition will allow attendees to learn more about the Nobel Prize and its founder, as well as the Nobel Laureates and their creative endeavors.

During the two-month exhibition visitors will have the opportunity to experience first hand and learn from the work of Alfred Nobel as well as past and current laureates. Highlights will include: - a selection of Alfred Nobel's artifacts and creations, representation of the work of more than 750 Nobel Laureates, films highlighting groundbreaking achievements, stories and artifacts of the most famous and controversial prizes and speeches and lectures.

Speaking on the occasion C.W. Suh, CEO of Samsung Electronics Middle East and Africa said, "With the mounting prominence of the UAE on the world map and its accelerated growth as a cultural hub in the region it was only natural for us to debut this renowned international exhibition in the UAE as it is a prime example of a country driven by innovation and differentiation."

He added, "We are positive the exhibition will be a success and we are pleased to be able to offer this unique educational opportunity to the students and general public of the UAE."

In addition to the display of the work of past and present Laureates, visitors will have the opportunity to experience innovations from Samsung Electronics.

There will be four zones dedicated to state-of-the-art high definition solutions including, 'Living in High Definition' showcasing audio visual (AV) solutions such as LCDs and home theatre systems, 'Working in High Definition', displaying IT solutions including printers, monitors and digital photo frames, 'Entertainment in High Definition' for MP3s, digital cameras and camcorders, and 'Communicate in High Definition', displaying the latest in mobile phone technology.

Each of the zones is dedicated to showcasing state-of-the-art digital innovations that inspire and add value to consumers' lives.

Schools, colleges and the general public in the UAE will have the opportunity to visit the exhibition and benefit from this unique opportunity to learn more about the Nobel Exhibition and the impact it has had on the world today. Trained guides will provide tours of the exhibition and students will be able to participate in an educational competition based on the works of Alfred Nobel and the Laureates.

Last year, HCT hosted the last leg of the the Nobel Foundation's Centennial Exhibition "Cultures of Creativity" world tour in Abu Dhabi for two months. The Higher Colleges of Technology support the Nobel Foundation's goals to spread knowledge and generate discussion through innovative thinking. The exhibition is open to the public from March 31st, till May 29th 2008 at the Higher Colleges of Technology, Dubai Men's College will be open to the public from 10:00 a.m. till 3:00 p.m. and then 6:00 p.m. till 8:00 p.m. from Sunday till Thursday for the duration of the exhibition.
