The launch was announced in a press conference held at the premises of the NOC and attended by representatives from the involved parties and the local press.

The program will feature a Mini Olympics athletic event to be held on April 2nd 2008 in Kaifan Stadium, whereby it will realize the dream of four children from Kuwait aged between 8 and 13 to win a 4 days trip to Beijing with an adult guardian and live the Olympic experience.

Commenting on the launch of the program, George Khawam, Marketing Director of McDonald's Kuwait said:

"Our social responsibility and commitment towards the wellbeing of our children in Kuwait lead us to initiate unique programs that can effectively influence them and encourage them to adopt active lifestyles. The McDonald's Olympic Sports Day coincides with this vision, and possesses a strong potential to achieve the objectives through offering a lifetime opportunity that will engrave joyful memories in our children's minds and divert their thinking towards healthy practices".

The Mini Olympics event will gather children from different schools in an athletic competition featuring various Olympic sports.

The National Olympic Committee will provide judges and referees who will preside over each activity to choose the winners of the Champion Kids package.

"The event is part of McDonald's official sponsorship of the Olympic Games and we would like to extend our sincere appreciation to our partners, the Kuwait National Olympic Committee, for their contribution to make the McDonald's Olympic Sports Day a success," concluded George Khawam.
