After more than doubling its sales of IT monitors in the Middle East last year, LG Electronics new IT products manager Captain Michael Kim has the unenviable task of boosting sales still higher.
Shortly to hit the Middle East are LG's two new Flatron monitor models, the 17 and 19 inch E700B which are aimed at the small business and home user.
Says Captain Kim, 'These new models will close a gap between LG and its competitors. And although the high-end LG Flatron is around $20-30 more than our competitors it still out sells them because IT users appreciate its superior quality.
LG will also be focusing more attention on boosting sales of its LCD TVs and monitors that are just 1% of monitor sales in the Middle East compared with 12% worldwide. And at the Gitex 2001 computer show in Dubai, LG introduced its latest 20-inch LCD TV.
'This is ultra-thin and is perfect for home theatre with its large screen and crystal clear pictures,' says Captain Kim, who served in the Korean Army for five years after graduating from Korea's Military Academy. 'Because it is slim and light it offers a variety of different installation options whether on a desk top, wall or even a ceiling'.
LCD monitors and TVs are considerably cheaper than plasma screens and easier on the eyes, according to LG which also manufacturers a range of plasma screen TVs with up to 60 inch screens. Inevitably the ambitious Korean manufacturer also plans global domination in this sector by 2005, and appears well ahead in plasma TV production.
For further details of LG products and distributors the company has an excellent website www.lge.com. Its one-year warranty on IT products and 30-day swap offer for defective products are also popular with consumers.
'We think this will be an excellent year for LG in the Middle East, and I am very pleased to be here at this exciting time,' says Captain Kim.
