The meetings are aimed at presenting their new developmental schemes to promote trading activities and boost economic relations between Middle Eastern countries and the European continent.
With its strategic location and being the largest french port sailing the English Channel / North Sea through which a quarter of the world cargo trade passes, Port du Havre can accommodate all types of vessels around the clock and all year through without any tidal constraints. About sixty containerized liner shipping services operated by the world biggest shipping lines connect Le Havre every week with every continent.
These latest years, port trade generated one third of the jobs in Le Havre employment area and one quarter of those in the Upper-Normandy area.
The various port professionals are interconnected owing to the use of AP+ computer system that can access a network of multi-professional data bases covering all the transactions related to the port transit of the cargo such as anticipation of customs and port procedures, shipping services on-line, anticipation of the logistics supply, cargo tracking-tracing…
Since April 2006, Port du Havre has handled a traffic of 760,000 TEU on a quay 700 m long, equipped with 6 high-capacity gantry cranes. Since July 2007, the second phase of work for the construction of 2,100 meters of additional quay has been started.
Christian Leroux, vice Chairman of the Board and Jean-Marc Lacave, executive Director of Port du Havre, will attend a press conference on Monday 3rd of March 2008, at 6.00 pm at Nile Hilton.

Senior authorities from the French Port du Havre are due in Cairo beginning of March for a series of meetings to boost trade.
