The show will focus on giving the local music scene a voice, while giving viewers nuggets of information on foreign and touring bands and artists.

According to Ron Kapadia, City 7 TV COO & Executive Director, "The Spin is part of the realisation of the station's vision of uniquely showcasing the people and propagating the culture and talent of the region's music industry to the entire Middle East and North Africa & beyond.

The considerable raw and untapped talents in music across the UAE have prompted us to develop a show such as The Spin," said Kapadia. "It's our pride to see them elevated to the global arena as a result of our efforts of promoting them."

Dubai's music scene is taking off big time and is fast becoming a stopover for top DJs as well as international artists of talents in varied faculties - be it a packed audience witnessing the head banging rock tunes of the Desert Rock Festival to Santana's spell binding concert. The attendance for concerts and club nights is phenomenal. What better time for the city to introduce a show that deals completely with music. The idea is, if the audience don't catch them live, 'The Spin' is there to satiate their music needs and get them closer to the turntables and the music artists themselves.
The host, Susie Iliyan links all the segments of her show in a funky studio with a
guest DJ co-hosting while playing on the turntables. The show is divided into sections on international and local music news such as latest record labels, musical shows, events, theatres, dance shows, concerts, club acts and a feature about a local talent who uses music as a medium to express their passion and entertain an audience. Susie is also out and about covering events relating to the entertainment world. The Spin promises something for everyone - whether you're a teeny bopper who is into goth or someone who yearns for hip hop and R & B.

"The Spin provides a platform for artists to stage themselves in a professional setting," said Iliyan. "We also want to reflect the multinational Nation that we live in and we do that by playing every genre of music in all languages," she opined.

Susie is joined by two club troopers who are experts in the field and have been advocating local entertainment for years; Charl Chaka and Smokin' Grooves of Rhythm Factory on a segment called 'Getting Jack'd'. They will be interviewing renowned DJ's and club performers.

"I'm sure the show will do well and shed some light on the local talents," said Chaka. "Time and time again it's been proven that local talents can hold their own and 'The Spin' will no doubt help display this. I'm excited to be involved in such a project."

The Spin promises to encapsulate the viewers' weekly dosage of music in a fast-paced yet easy to digest half-hour time slot. It broadcasts every Wednesday at 10:30pm and repeated every Friday at 12:30 am & 12 noon, Saturday at 9 pm and Sunday at 10 pm.

Aside from the launch of 'The Spin' and roll out of a multitude of in - house productions, City 7 TV is now exploring the web and Short Message Service (sms) to reach out and interact with the viewers. "A substantial and dedicated following is a conformation of a successful station. Soon they will be able to watch their favourite programmes streamed live on our portal www.city7tv.com. Specific shows can also be viewed on the station's online business partners" Ron Kapadia.
