Dubai prestige plates fetch Dhs41m

The Roads and Transport Authority in Dubai has said yesterday's auction of prestige car number plates raised Dhs40.9m. The numbers 43 and 61 each sold for Dhs2.3m, while the D code three-digit numbers of 200, 300, 800 and 900 sold for a total of Dhs4.9m. The F code three-digit numbers of 113, 114 and 115 sold for Dhs4.52m in total. Overall, 114 plates were up for sale. The values fell far short of the world record breaking sale of the number 1 licence plate number in Abu Dhabi in February, which sold for Dhs52.2m.
