This dedicated HVACR event, to be held at the Hyatt Regency, Dubai, from 28 to 30 April 2008, will host a 'Green Day' on the last day of the conference, focusing on related technologies through a seminar, workshop and a green marketplace.

EmiratesGBC was set up to create and maintain sustainable Built-environment and protect the ecosystem in the UAE.

B Surendar, Editorial Director of CPI-Industry, said, "In a region where the construction market is booming, it is important to focus on sustainable technologies and standards to alleviate global climate change concerns. We are very pleased that the EmiratesGBC has agreed to become the advocate for our workshop and share some of its best practices and standards with peers around the region".

The special workshop on Green Buildings will be entitled, 'Hands-on LEED design and documentation'. It will include a broad discussion, primarily on design challenges and also other challenges, like procurement of Green Building-related materials in the region.

EmiratesGBC representatives at the workshop will include Mario Seneviratne, Director, Green Technologies; Richard Smith, Technical Director, WS Atkins and Jeffrey Willis, Associate Director, Arup.

Other key participants include Kimberly Hosken, Project Development Consultant at Johnson Controls; Sougata Nandi, Senior Manager (Sustainable Development) from TECOM Investments and Sinan Rasheed, Chief Mechanical Engineer with Dubai Silicon Oasis Authority.

Smith said: "Climate change is now forcing Carbon Critical design. This is presenting a challenge to us all, but in five years we will look back and realise it was not so difficult".

C3's Green Day will also include a seminar that will attempt to understand what the Government of Dubai expects of builders, consultants, contractors and clients in implementing Green Building projects.

Further, Green Day will include a Green Bazaar, positioned as a marketplace for buyers and sellers of Green Building-related products and services. The visitor profile will include consultants, contractors and procurement managers.

The event enjoys the support of the industry. Johnson Controls is the platinum sponsor, while Emerson Climate Technologies and Leroy Somer are gold sponsors and Faisal Jassim Trading Company and TAS Middle East are silver sponsors. Siemens, Greenheck and SWEGON spearhead the 'Green Bazaar'.
