Held in the headquarters of the Qatar Red Crescent in the city, the event saw teams from International Red Cross and Red Crescent societies descending upon the Doha eager to exchange knowledge, technology and opinions.
IGTC-Chubb Fire was there too, with an exhibit of its state-of-the-art Mobile Response Trailer System (MRTS) from Western Shelter Systems. 'The Red Cross and Red Crescent societies play a vital role around the world, providing emergency and humanitarian aid where it is most required. We're happy to sponsor the meeting and do whatever we can to encourage and applaud them,' said Robert Botha, General Manager, IGTC -Chubb Fire.
The International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement is the world's largest humanitarian network. Made up of almost 97 million volunteers, supporters, and staff in 186 member Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies in as many countries, the Movement is neutral and impartial, and provides protection and assistance to people affected by disasters and conflicts around the world.
As partners, the different members of the Movement support communities in becoming stronger and safer through a variety of development projects and humanitarian activities. The Movement also works in cooperation with governments, donors and other aid organizations to assist vulnerable people.
Mobile Response Trailer Systems, like the one exhibited by IGTC-Chubb Fire at the event, are full fledged field hospitals that play a critical role in bringing quick and comprehensive medical aid to victims of emergencies and mass casualty incidents.
'With the ever changing conditions in which emergencies occur, the need to have immediate response capability, scalability and self sufficiency is paramount.
The MRTS system demonstrates the highest extent of introducing technologically advanced products and systems in times of distress for quick and immediate deployment across the Middle East,' said Mr. Botha.
The Red Crescent meeting in Doha saw staff from 11 Red Cross and Red Crescent societies coming together - Germany, Hong Kong, Norway, Spain, Australia, Japan, Canada, Denmark and Finland, in addition to the IFRC/ International Red Cross Red Crescent Societies and the Internationals Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) from their headquarters in Geneva, Switzerland.
Also attending were representatives from various Qatari organizations and institutions including Qatar Petroleum, Civil Defense, Hamad Medical Corporation, National Health Authority, Lekhwia and EMS.
