Damas signs up for the first diamond jewellery certification service from IDL

Damas is the first jewellery retailer to sign up for this latest initiative; all Damas diamond jewellery from its in-house brands will now come with an IDL certificate guaranteeing the quality and authenticity of the item.

Initially, IDL certificates were available only with loose diamonds; this is the first time ever that IDL is certifying diamond jewellery. This marks a new beginning for the company's innovative services aimed at boosting consumer confidence in diamonds.

Currently, IDL certified diamond jewellery will be available through Damas' wide retail network across 16 countries including all GCC markets, gradually we expect more retailers to make use of this certification services".

We aim to provide precise grading through a scientific and objective approach using cutting edge technologies. Our certificates are only for natural diamonds and diamond jewellery and they describe the 4 Cs-carats, colour, clarity and cut - that are the diamond's most important determining factors".

An IDL certificate provides the carat weight of the stone, loose or mounted, and offers an accurate colour grading.

It also has a detailed chart showing the cut, finish and measurements of the stone.

The clarity section on the certificate demonstrates the internal and external characteristics of the gem.

Once graded, the diamond is packed in a sealed container which is transparent and tamper-proof. All certificates have a serial number which can be used to verify the certificate online.

IDL also issues Arabic-language diamond certificates and is the only company in the world to provide them.

IDL provides high-quality diamond certification services from its headquarters in the UAE and branch offices in Antwerp, Belgium, and Mumbai.

It is a Dubai government backed initiative and part of the Diamond Master Plan, adopted by Dubai Multi Commodities Centre in 2007, to further develop services for the diamond trade through proprietary technology and strong focus on research and development.
