Saleh Zakwani, Chairman said, 'We have an experienced and talented person in Mohana to take the business forward. I have full trust in her capability to grow the business, for Apex to become truly a leader in the region and not only in Oman.'
'Our staff strength has gone up four-fold since the time Mohana joined Apex, and now we are getting ready to launch two new dailies which will grow our team significantly.'
Mohana joined Apex in 2001 as editor of its monthly business publication, BusinessToday, going on to take over as Managing Editor, responsible for all titles including Oman Today (leisure magazine) and Tribute (annual). She led the team that launched the company's first and very successful foray into the newspaper arena with The Week in March 2003, the first free paper in the region.
Hailing from India, Mohana has been a practicing journalist for 16 years. She majored in Economics from St Xavier's College in India, and spent most of her career as a business journalist in Mumbai and Bangalore with the well-known Indian magazine, Business India.
Mohana commented, 'I came to Oman to work with Apex, because of the potential that I saw in this market and certainly, in the company. The chairman's unshakeable focus on quality and the ability to innovate in anticipation of future developments to serve the readers has enabled us to reach leadership positions in all segments. Apex gave me the opportunity to involve myself in the management and operational aspects of running a publishing house. I can only see unlimited opportunities ahead and I will use what I have learnt to make sure we are ready to take advantage of all of them.'
