UAE Government launches multi-pronged leadership programme

The UAE Government today announced the launch of a multi-pronged 'UAE Government Leaders Programme', seeking to develop visionary leaders with the potential to drive the strategic objectives of all federal sectors.
The 'Strategic Leaders Programme' will target Directors General at the UAE ministries and federal authorities, while the 'Executive Leaders Programme' will focus on Executive Directors and Directors at the federal entities. The 'Future Leaders Programme' will be extended to the remaining grades of federal leaders.
The 18-months Executive Leaders Programme is scheduled for an early launch and includes 30 participants. The year-long Strategic Leaders Programme will be launched later this year and brings together 20 Participants, while the Future Leaders Programme will be conducted over 18 months and draws 30 participants.
His Excellency Mohammed Al Gergawi, Minister of Cabinet Affairs, said: "His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid has directed the government to sustain its development strategies while nurturing a new generation of future leaders. Identifying potential leaders on the federal level and investing in enhancing their leadership skills are top priorities on the government's agenda."
To be implemented in collaboration with world class universities and training institutions that follow best international practices, the program seeks to foster professional competencies, and to provide new insights and thought-provoking experience on the attributes of leadership. Building and guiding efficient teams, and developing clear vision and mission objectives are among the other focus areas of the programme.
"Preparing aspiring leaders who can adopt and endorse a work culture of excellence is imperative for delivering the highest quality of government work. There is a growing need for future leaders who can absorb the ethos of the UAE Government Strategy and successfully channel this knowledge to their teams for achieving tangible results on the ground," Al Gergawi added.
The UAE Government Leaders Programme will additionally focus on enhancing core institutional competencies such as Public Financial Management, Talent Management, Information Technology Management, Project Management and Governmental Excellence.
The nominations of potential candidates have been received from ministries and federal authorities for the "Executive Leaders Program". The assessment process to evaluate and select programme participants has also commenced this week through a professional and independent development centre.
