Emirates Post issues stamps on 10th anniversary of Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Award for Distinguished Academic Performance

Emirates Post has issued a set of commemorative stamps to mark the 10th anniversary of Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Award for Distinguished Academic Performance.

The stamps, issued in denominations of Dhs1 and Dhs2, are available at all post offices in the UAE. In addition, First Day Covers of Dhs4 each, are available at the philatelic counters of Karama, Deira and Abu Dhabi post offices.

"Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Award for Distinguished Academic Performance represents ultimate recognition for professionals from field of education. It has grown in prestige and scope over the past few years," Ibrahim Bin Karam, CEO of Emirates Post. "We are delighted to recognized the contribution of the Hamdan Award through these special stamps."

The Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Award for Distinguished Academic Performance in Dubai in 1998 to promote best practices in educational field. In 1999, the award was expanded to cover all the Emirates.

In 2003, the award was extended to the GCC region in the following three categories: The Distinguished Student, Distinguished Teacher and Distinguished School & School Administration. In 2006, the Best Practical Educational category was added to cover all Arab countries.
