BioTiqania hosts first internationally accredited training course in alliance with US-based Center for Professional Advancement

Led by Geert Byttebier, Medical Statistician in Early Development at Johnson & Johnson Pharmaceuticals, the two-day course 'Biostatistics for the Non-Statistician - Basics' was designed for medical investigators, research and development scientists, clinical research associates and regulatory specialists. The course covered fundamental statistical concepts critical to the operations of professionals in a biological or medical environment.

Dr. Maryem Al Hassani Al Shehi, Director of BioTiqania Advanced Training Institute, said: "The good response from the industry for our first training initiative has justified our objectives on international affiliations for sector-focussed programmes. BioTiqania's programmes are designed to help professionals, including scientists and engineers, attain technical skills to augment their professional experience.

"We will continue providing year-round certification programmes and continuous education courses in various formats, including on site, public and client sites, as well as interactive online training. Based on clients' specific needs, we also provide customised course programmes."

One of the course participants, Jennifer Cvetkovic, said: "The course helped us acquire knowledge on fundamental statistical methods through analyzing case studies and research investigations. I hope BioTiqania will soon offer another segment on Biostatistics with one full day allocated to the analysis and interpretation of case studies."

Launched early this year, the BioTiqania project is in line with DuBiotech's vision to foster research and development in the UAE. In addition to pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies, DuBiotech aims to provide the necessary infrastructure for all entities involved in the life sciences industry, including the agricultural, environmental, and marine biotechnology sectors. The park also provides support services for R&D, manufacturing and commercial operations.
