Gulf Air Grand Prix 2008 season kicks off with the first roadshow in Dubai

The countdown for the eagerly-awaited Gulf Air Bahrain Grand Prix 2008 has begun with the first of a series of road shows launched in Dubai today to promote the Middle East's biggest and the only Formula One event.

This year the Gulf Air Bahrain Grand Prix 2008 will be held on 4, 5 and 6 April at the world class race track - Bahrain International Circuit (BIC) in Sakhir, Bahrain.

"With millions of followers across the globe, Formula One is no doubt the most prestigious and sought after motor sport event and the Gulf Air Bahrain Grand Prix is a shining example of the region's emergence as the home of motorsport in the Middle East," says Gulf Air President and Chief Executive Mr. Björn Näf.

"As the title sponsor of the race since 2004, Gulf Air has been witnessing the growing popularity of the event year on year winning more and more new fans among the GCC communities and across the wider Middle East. We are fully committed to make it possible for these fans to come and watch the once-in-a-year spectacle,"

For Formula One fans from Dubai waiting to witness the Grand Prix 2008 in Bahrain, Gulf Air has come up with a special package that includes guaranteed return flights with special F1 fares, meet and greet service on arrival, transfers to and from Bahrain International Airport and BIC and, a special gift.

Gulf Air will also be increasing its seat capacity on selected routes and adding in extra flights to accommodate more passengers coming to Bahrain to watch the race. Passengers can buy the race tickets online at www.bahraingp.com

"Last year more than 350 million people watched the race across the globe and over 90000 people witnessed the race in Bahrain. A good number of people were from the GCC countries," says Gulf Air Area Manager Kuwait Mr. Mohammed Alam.

"With convenient flights, guaranteed seats, complemented by ground transport and reception arrangements, our customers need not worry about anything except to join the thousands of sport lovers and enjoy the race."

Apart from the race a full schedule of cultural events and entertainment has been organised under the banner of 'Yalla Bahrain!' (Let's go, Bahrain!), before and during the race days giving the Grand Prix race a festive flavour.

After Dubai, the road show goes to Jeddah, Doha, Amman, New Delhi and Dammam.
