- PRESS RELEASE
Top officials and management from Dubai World converged for the 'Get to know Dubai World' forum yesterday (Monday, 31st March 2008) on board the Queen Victoria at Port Rashid.
The Marine and Maritime themed event featured presentations focused on the group's business activities related to water.
Sultan Ahmed Bin Sulayem, Chairman, Dubai World, highlighted the significance of the event and the vital role of communication in an organization:
"Dubai World is a huge international organisation and it is imperative to continually sustain an information exchange between officials of different business units and other stakeholders. Communication is critical for the continued existence of any structured organisation, irrespective of what it is or what it does. An event such as 'Get to know Dubai World' brings DW members together under a collective corporate vision and also serves as a valuable strategic corporate management mechanism. We are positive that this event will be immensely successful in creating deeper harmony within the DW community."
Farid Mohammed Ahmed, Secretary General, Dubai World, stated "We are delighted to host our annual "Get to Know Dubai World" aboard the Queen Victoria. As a group, we highly prioritise corporate events that bring together DW stakeholders, partners and business units to collectively discuss topical information that enable us to form the strategic way-forward. These events reinforce our cohesive corporate philosophy and help us to build on our synergistic strengths in an effective manner."
"We chose a very apt theme for the event, with all presentations related to the Maritime industry. Dubai World's roots stem from the Ports and their development and are equally pertinent today as we continue to diversify our portfolio to add more water related projects each day," he added.
Making this event even more memorable is its unique venue aboard one of the most anticipated ships to sail the seas. The Queen Victoria owned by the Cunard Line, from which Dubai World recently purchased the QE2 for $100m, stands at 964 feet in length & 179 feet in height with a guest capacity of 2000 people.
Chief Executives from different companies of Dubai World were invited to share their experiences and insights with the management teams and employees who attended the forum.
They included Manfred Ursprunger, CEO, QE2 Enterprises; Konstantinos Antonpoulos, MD, Platinum Yatchs; John Ewing, Chief Commercial Officer, Dubai Maritime City; Mahmoud Al Hindi, Operations Director, Palm Waters; Shafiq Khoory, Managing Director, Palm District Cooling; Saeed Harib, Director - Nakheel Marinas; Hamad Al Hashemi, Managing Director, Techno Park and from the Blue Communities, Rula Sadik, Director Design & Planning, Nakheel Design Group.
