Dubai Knowledge Village promotes awareness on global warming

Dubai Knowledge Village, a member of TECOM Investments, demonstrated its support of the 29 March 'Earth Hour 2008' campaign to raise awareness on global climate change by switching off non essential lights for one hour from 8:00pm local time (1600 GMT), joining 3,500 businesses in 380 towns and cities across the world.

Early this year, Dubai Knowledge Village in partnership with Sustainable Energy and Environment Division (SEED), phased out the use of halogen lamps within its premises. The initiative was estimated to reduce at least an average of 174 tonnes of CO2 emission per year.

Dubai was the first Arab city to declare its support for Earth Hour, joining 35 countries that had signed up for the campaign. Dubai's participation was led by Dubai Holding and the Dubai Water and Electricity Authority (DEWA).
