Sharjah wins Best Event Organizer award

The award was presented by UIM F1 Powerboat World Championship Promoter, Mr. Nicolu di San Germano to H.E. Mohamed A. Al Noman, Director General of the SCTDA during a visit he paid to the emirate.

Sharjah has been hosting the championship on an annual basis since 2000. The emirate has secured the prestigious award for the fifth time, out of six awards Sharjah has received for organizing the event. The award is the latest addition to a series of phenomenal successes achieved by the emirate in its involvement in organizing world class sporting events that gave Sharjah a prominent position among the leading world cities in terms of organizing international sport competitions.

H.E. Mohamed A. Al Noman, Director General of the SCTDA, attributed the resounding success to the wise directions of H.H Dr. Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qassimi, UAE Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, and the unstinted support of H.H Sheikh Sultan Bin Mohammed Bin Sultan Al Qassimi, Crown Prince and Deputy Ruler of Sharjah.

Al Noman dedicated this achievement to H.H Ruler of Sharjah, expressing profound gratitude to his guidance and support that made this event a tremendous success, adding that success on these levels will significantly contribute in boosting Sharjah's leading position on world map and prove its ability to host major international sport events.

"Thanks to the farseeing strategy of H.H Dr. Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qassimi, UAE Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, the emirate of Sharjah is increasingly coming under the international spotlight as an ideal avenue of major sport, heritage, cultural and entertaining events", Al Noman said.

SCTDA's Director General extended his thanks and gratitude to H.H Sheikh Sultan Bin Mohammed Bin Sultan Al Qassimi, Crown Prince and Deputy Ruler of Sharjah for his generous support of the event, and said: "We at Sharjah Commerce and Trade Development Authority reiterate our commitment to continue dedicated work in promoting the emirate of Sharjah through all the local, regional and international platforms with the aim to attract major sport and economic events to the emirate".

"We are very thrilled to see signs of satisfaction apparent on the faces of the team members, as this award is the output of their yearlong efforts. We thank them all". Al Noman added, and then he extended a special thanks to sponsors of Sharjah Grand Prix 2007 for their continuous support of the prestigious event. H.E praised the collaboration of Sharjah's government departments and authorities which significantly contributed in organizing the event and providing the logistic and technical support required for the race venue. Al Noman thanked the local and Arab media resources for their effective role in promoting the event. "We thank the volunteers from Sharjah's government departments and authorities, and from universities for their great efforts which make the event a success", he added.

During his meeting with Al Noman at the authority's headquarter, UIM F1 Powerboat World Championship Promoter, Mr. Nicolu di San Germano stated that Sharjah has achieved a series of international successes in hosting this major world event, lauding the outstanding efforts exerted by the SCTDA in organizing the champion. "Sharjah-hosted final ride of the UIM F1 Powerboat World Championship is increasingly becoming the most eagerly awaited event in the water sport competition, and is grabbing greater international attention", he said.

"Sharjah has received 6 awards for its successful hosting of UIM F1 Powerboat World Championship Promoter, including 5 editions of the "Best Event Organizer Award", he added.

Mr. Germano clarified that this high profile championship is organized in several countries across Europe and East Asia, hailing Sharjah's success in organizing the event. "Thanks to the SCTDA's efforts, the value Sharjah has added to the UIM F1 Powerboat World Championship during the last 7 years has been unmatched everywhere in the history of the championship", he concluded.

To date Sharjah has won international award for the best event organizer in 2000, 2002, 2003 and 2004 and international journalism award for ideal organizing in 2001.
