'BP is proud to be associated with this event, celebrating the strong cultural and commercial ties between Kuwait and the United Kingdom. BP has a long-standing partnership with Kuwait and we look forward to seeing the relationship evolve and to continue doing business here for many years to come', said Marchant.

'We seek to work in close partnership with national oil companies, fostering long-term relationships through which we can apply BP's expertise and technology from around the world in support of developing local skills and capabilities,' Marchant explained.

The company has developed a range of proprietary industry leading technologies that have enabled BP to significantly increase recovery factors from its fields around the world. One example is the BP operated Prudhoe Bay field in Alaska which would normally yield a 'standard' recovery of less than 40%, whereas in reality the field is set to recover around 65% of in-place reserves. This technology leadership can help countries to tap into previously undeveloped, challenging hydrocarbons resources such as tight gas.

BP lubricants are represented through the BP, Castrol and Veedol brands and continue to enjoy a strong market share in excess of 20%.
