Ministry of Education (MoE) and ITQAN launch first Phase of Ministry's web portal

The portal which is built on Microsoft MOSS technologies has been designed to handle more than 500,000 simultaneous users.

The portal will aid in conveying information to all who are interested in the education sector including those working in it, in a secure, user-friendly and efficient manner. It will provide browsers access to online information related to educational institutions in the UAE, services, and results of exams, support facilities at institutions and facilities for MoE staff.

"The new Portal is an initiative within many of the initiatives being taken by the ministry to keep abreast of the progress made by the state in implementation of the e-government.The Ministry of Education's new portal will be a primary gateway to information on the MoE and its services. The move to implement this portal is in line with the UAE's progress into the information age" said H.E. Mohammad Bin Hindi, Executive Manager of Social and Supportive Services in the Ministry.

"MoE was keen to establish a technology infrastructure geared to meet the growing demands from the UAE's educational sector. The portal would provide a forum for students, teachers, parents and general public to interact with the MoE on issues of mutual concern. He added.

"The world is moving continuously in the sphere of digital technology and the implementation of these important portals is vital as it will encourage people to leverage technology for their common benefit and expand their knowledge spectrum.This project is the first phase the Ministry's endevaors to serve the educational sector better and we hope that this will be a gateway to the e-Government initiatives in the country", comments Badriah Youssef, Director of Information Technology in MoE on the importance of the initiative.

The MoE portal is a key project currently being implemented with the involvement of all advisory services of Microsoft, Seviko and IT Works. It must be noted that this project is the first of its kind in the world, and is designed in accordance with the structural CEF launched by Microsoft recently. ITQAN will apply its capabilities, experience and the understanding of market needs that it has gained over twenty-four years of existence to serve its customers the best way possible", observes Mr. Feras Al Jabi, General Manager of ITQAN.
