On Sunday, 23rd March, the Wind Quartet of the London Philharmonic Orchestra performed live in the ADWC Auditorium. This is the 75th year of the London Philharmonic Orchestra, recognized as one of the greatest orchestras in the world.

The Orchestra maintains an extensive performance schedule, regularly appearing in such places as Europe, the Far East and North America. In addition, the London Philharmonic Orchestra sponsors an extensive education programme to nurture and promote excellence in young musicians.

On Sunday, 30th March, ADWC students met with and interviewed Violinist Sarah Chang, recognized as one of the world's most gifted performers. Ms. Chang has performed throughout Asia, Europe and America, and has collaborated with some of the world's most distinguished orchestras. She is also a recipient of the Avery Fisher Prize, one of the most prestigious awards given to instrumentalists, and has been named by Newsweek Magazine as one of the Twenty Top Women in Leadership. The ADWC students asked Ms. Chang about her life, her background and her career, and were particularly interested in her violin, a Guarneri del Gesu which dates back to 1717. Ms. Chang stated she was pleased to meet with the students and to provide them with insights on the world of classical music and performance.

"Music is an excellent expression of the universality of all cultures," said Dr. Brad Cook, ADWC's Director. "It is important that our students are exposed to this art form as it provides a means of inspiration in their lives and in their work. Access to music and art will positively influence our students and show them an alternative way of expressing their own culture."
