Harvard Medical School Dubai Center and Dubai Healthcare City holds Practi-Med program for pediatrics
Harvard Medical School Dubai Center Institute for Postgraduate Education and Research, a member of Mohamed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Academic Medical Center, in collaboration with Dubai Healthcare City, a member of Tatweer, conducted an innovative Practi-Med program in Dubai on latest developments in the diagnosis and management of pediatric disorders, as part of its Continuing Medical Education (CME) initiative.

Held at the Grand Hyatt Hotel from 4-5 April, the CME 'Practi-Med: Pediatrics' conference was designed for primary care physicians, pediatricians, nutritionists, psychologists, endocrinologists, pediatric nephrologists, and other pediatric and healthcare professionals as well as medical students.
Participants received certificates of attendance from Harvard Medical School Dubai Center and were awarded a maximum of 13 CME credit hours.
Dr. Muhadditha Al Hashimi, Chief Executive Officer, DHCC, said:
'Through partnering with HMSDC, we have made considerable progress in extending the reach of world-class education to healthcare professionals in the region. Our objective is to equip medical practitioners with latest skills and technology updates and enable them to offer a vastly enhanced holistic treatment. This Practi-Med program provided participants with updates on advances in pediatric medicine. Through offering such CME program, DHCC seeks to create a competent cadre of pediatric professionals across the regional healthcare sector'.
The CME programs organized by HMSDC are reviewed and approved by the Department of Continuing Medical Education at Harvard Medical School, and accredited by the CPD department at HMSDC. The credits are also recognized by the Ministry of Health as well as Dubai and Abu Dhabi Health Authorities.
Dr. Robert L. Thurer, Chief Academic Officer, said: 'HMSDC seeks to provide the region with top of the range healthcare programs and educational courses throughout the year. In 2007, HMSDC, in collaboration with DHCC, organized 13 CME conferences and provided specialized medical education to more than 2,000 healthcare professionals. We look forward to contributing to the growth of healthcare in the region by facilitating globally-acclaimed faculty to visit Dubai and train our professionals during this year'.
HMSDC is a joint initiative of Harvard Medical International (HMI) and DHCC. The CME programs, led by senior Harvard Medical School faculty, are an integral part of its endeavour to develop DHCC into a centre of excellence for healthcare delivery, education and research.
