Success figures of 2007 together with awarding excellence in various categories to select retailers, and plans and objectives for 2008 were shared at the event.
The centre's statistics for 2007 showed a whopping 21% increase in sales while visitor traffic touched more than 10 million. Sharjah City Centre also presented awards in 12 different categories to its retailers based on various excellence criteria such as sales performance, operational compliance, involvement in the centre's marketing activities and customer feedback.
While 'Baby Shop' walked away with the Best Retailer of the Year, 'Splash' won the Best Anchor Store category and 'Pierre Cardin' the Best Fashion Store.
In its first year at the mall, The Body Shop was awarded the Best Health/Wellness/Perfume Store while the other winners included 'Carters' as the Best Children Fashion Store, 'Mini Chinese' as the Best Restaurant/Café, 'McDonald's' as the Best Food Court Outlet, 'Magic Planet' as the Best Entertainment & Hobby Store and 'Cellucom' as the Best Electronics and Telephone Accessories Store.
Sun & Sands Sports, Al Jaber Optics and Samra won accolades in the Best Footwear & Sports Store, Best Optical, Accessories and Service Store and Best Jewellery & Watches Store respectively.
Jassem Al Janahi, General Manager, Sharjah City Centre commented: 'Our AGM this year was very successful considering we announced very positive figures from 2007. We are hoping to cross these numbers this year as Sharjah City Centre is undergoing a redevelopment phase and 24 well-known retailers will be added to our current retail mix.'
