On the 13th anniversary of its foundation, the Lebanese Children's fund (LCF), a worldwide nonprofit charity organization, which helps the poor and the handicapped, organized on Friday the 4th of April, a gala dinner in al-Bustan Rotana Hotel, to help raise funds in order to support those children with fewer resources and opportunities than many.
While the LCF does not conduct direct relief efforts, it actively organizes various activities to raise funds and helps provide necessary services and supplies to other Lebanese charity organizations, reaching out to all the children in need, whose lives have been threatened and endangered by the savage devastation of war..
The evening commenced with a wonderful performance of 'Doves of Peace' i.e. Toyoor al Salam, where the music and the body engaged in a breathtaking conversation. The show was performed by 33 deaf and mute children from Father Robert's Institute, who were flown in from Beirut for this special occasion.
Father Robert's Institute looks after deaf and mute children from newborns to the age of 21, ensuring that each child is given educational opportunities, tests and professional training by specially qualified teachers to better equip them in handling the future. They also conduct regular psychological and medical tests providing the hearing aid facilities necessary for their development and educational programs that conform to the Lebanese Ministry requirements.
Following the performance a draw took place by which various prizes were donated by renowned and reputable companies from the different industries in the UAE; the most valuable prize being a watch by Korloff Paris from Samra Jewellery.
The Lebanese Children's Fund thanks all the institutions who participated in this humanitarian event and who by doing so have generously contributed to help save a child's life, and bring health and happiness to those in need of education as well as the
handicapped, underprivileged and chronically ill.
The following quotation taken from 'The Prophet' by the famous Lebanese poet and philosopher Gibran Khalil Gibran explains the humanitarian work of the LCF: 'And to the open-handed, the search for one who shall receive is a joy greater than giving'.
