Speaking on the buoyancy of Sharjah's economy, H.E. Ali Bin Salem Al Mahmoud, General Manager of the Sharjah Economic Development Department said,
"This growth reflects the success of Sharjah's Government in creating the healthy environment needed for sustainable growth and demonstrates the vital contributions of the private sector to different economic sectors".
"The department has issued 1768 new licenses between 1 January and 31 March, 2008. These licenses were divided into three categories. Commercial licenses accounted for 43.7% of the new licenses, with 773 licenses, professional licenses amounted to 953, making up 53.9% of the new licenses issued, and industrial licenses came to 42, totaling 2.4% of the overall number," Al Mahmoud added.
"The total number licenses issued for this quarter is 12695, with 50% commercial, 47% professional and 3% industrial, recorded as 6355, 5964 and 376 licenses respectively," Al Mahmoud clarified.
Al Mahmoud added that the annual increase in the number of trade licenses issued by the department mirrors the high level of confidence investors have in the Emirate of Sharjah and proves the success of the SEDD's policy in attracting capital to the emirate by setting up an investor-friendly infrastructure and offering high quality services and facilities.
