Commenting on KOM's decision to strengthen its participation at the trade show, Mohammed Al Maskari, KOM's Director General says:
"Comex is the most significant domestic exhibition for Oman's ICT industry. It's now a 'must' event for companies and organizations working in our sector. Last year, for instance, our stand attracted a large number of trade visitors from Oman and across the region. There was also a strong participation by many of the large domestic ICT players as well as international technology firms that are setting up in Oman. It's a show you want to be part of".
KOM offers its incubator tenants free space at Comex and this year Hussam Technology; R&D; Sohar Soft; and Seeb Systems will be taking advantage of this generous offer. "Our support of Comex enables smaller companies like those in The Knowledge Mine (TKM) incubator program to reach an international audience at zero cost. If we want the enterprise culture to thrive on KOM then it's in our interest to help start-ups in the TKM program reach out to as wide an audience as possible." says Al Rahbi.
KOM is considered by many in ICT circles to be one of the leading technology parks in the Gulf region. "The Park's management is very focused on supporting the growth and commercialization of hi-tech, knowledge-driven businesses. Taking office space on KOM was certainly the right decision for us," comments Karim Rahemtulla, MD, Infocomm. "We not only offer world-class office accommodation and infrastructure but we also provide our tenant community with an environment for information exchange and networking opportunity second to none," remarks Al Rahbi.
From their stand at Comex KOM staff will be encouraging people to explore the Park's growing tenant base, one that includes more than 60 tenant-partners ranging from one-man start-ups to multinational organizations like Oracle, HP, NCR and Microsoft.
"As we steadily move forward, the Park's environment will be characterized by the best world standards of technology park design and management. An abundance of formal and informal meeting places set amongst a landscape backdrop, will be progressively rolled out as the Park continues to expand. Indeed, we expect to break ground on a new 30,000 square metre office block in the next few months. We're determined to realize the exciting potential of KOM for Oman and for all Omani-based residents," remarks Al Maskari.
