Syria: Wednesday, April 09 - 2008 at 07:36

China and Syria are joining forces to build a refinery in eastern Syria, expanding their cooperation to include oil processing, reported AFP. Under the agreement, China National Petroleum Corp., China's biggest oil and gas company, will build a refinery with an annual capacity of five million tonnes (about 110,000 barrels a day). CNPC will incur 85% of the costs of the project, which is expected to begin operations by late 2011.
