World-renowned architect Rem Koolhaas lectures AUST and presents his projects in RAK and Dubai

In front of an audience of architects, university professors and students from all over the UAE and the Gulf, the Dutch Prof. Rem Koolhaas offered to feature his approach about architecture being both a science and art.

He also discussed some of his architectural masterpieces in America, Europe, Asia and the UAE, especially in Dubai and Ras Al Khaima. During his career, Prof. Koolhaas earned a number of international awards, including "Pritzker Prize".

The latter is the most important award in the field of architecture for it is highly recognized among the industry circle. Some even consider it as equaling the Noble Prize.

The lecture attracted a huge public, specialized and non-specialized, who flocked into Ajman University of Science and Technology to attend this lecture which is the first of its kind by Prof Rem Koolhaas in an Arab university.

The audience interacted actively with the expert by presenting their questions and queries, which strongly demonstrate the UAE public passion for architecture and their keen interest to benefit from internationally recognized architects.

On the sideline of the lecture, a guided tour was conducted to different departments in the Faculty of Engineering where Prof. Rem Koolhaas had the opportunity to walk through a display of students' projects and works.

Upon his tour, he expressed his appreciation by what he saw. "some of the work on display are indeed much finer and delicate than I elsewhere saw in some western Universities' he said.

At the end of the event, Pro. Fahr Hayati, Dean of Faculty of Engineering, presented Prof. Rem Koolhaas with a distinguished gift.
