PhotoWorld - Dubai 2008 opens

Her Excellency Reem Al Hashemi, UAE Minister of State, inaugurated the PhotoWorld - Dubai 2008, the 4th International Digital and Imaging Exhibition, at the Dubai International Convention & Exhibition Centre.

The three-day exhibition, which continues till April 10, has brought together professionals and photo enthusiasts from around the region.

Organized by Channels Exhibitions, PhotoWorld - Dubai 2008 offers a unique platform for photography professionals to share ideas, experiences and purchase the latest digital imaging innovations and products. Distributors and trade visitors get an opportunity to source and identify new innovations and points of supply in the sector by networking directly with over 100 international exhibitors from 16 countries.

As part of the unique facets to the show, free workshops and seminars will be exclusively held on all three days of the exhibition. The seminars will be conducted by international imaging professionals from Society of Wedding & Portrait Photographers-UK (SWPP) and the British Professional Photographers' Association (BPPA) with a particular focus on communicating the new trends, latest techniques and uses of digital imaging.

Attendance to the on-the-hour seminars and workshops is free for all. Among those who will conduct the forums are Bob Campbell, Jane Connor Zizer, Martin Grahame Dunn, Tom Lee and Mohammed Jogie. Key themes and topics of the workshops will include image manipulation, portrait retouching, imaging software usage and capturing photographs. Mr Boutros added: "Workshops at PhotoWorld have become a big hit ever since they were launched during the last edition of the show. At the exhibition, Canon is showcasing both individual products and complete networked technology solutions for information input, management and output. On the other hand, Nikon is showcasing advanced optical and precision photography equipments.

Similarly, Sony Professional & Broadcast is showcasing its entire range of digital photo printer line up and the latest AV camera solutions for the wedding & event organizer sector. The company is targeting professional photographers who are looking to print larger and clearer photos more quickly with high quality, a range of systems ideally suited to retail outlets, business and commerce as well as walk-in ID photography requirements.

PhotoWorld - Dubai 2008 is the only digital imaging exhibition of its kind in the region is supported by leading photographers and graphic artists' associations, including the locally-based Lightchasers and the Qatar Photographic Society.
