The School had already received, within the same series, leading political figures and intellectuals, such as Amat Al Sousa, UN deputy Secretary General and Francis Fukuyama.

In his capacity as Chairman of the United Nations Global Alliance for Information and Communication Technologies and Development, Dr. Barrett outlined the advice he gives to world leaders about how to develop appropriate technology and education policies to boost national competitiveness.

He challenged attendees at the Dubai School of Government to consider appropriate policies in the UAE context.

The speaker was introduced to the audience by Dr. Tarek Hatem, Associate Dean of the Executive Education who said: 'Once again, we are proud to host Dr. Craig Barrett, who has agreed to address our young government leaders and share with them his insight on the digital path to national competitiveness.'

He added: 'The last visit of Dr. Barrett was very inspiring to all of us here at the Dubai School of Government since we have sponsored several papers and Policy Briefs which reaffirms our aim to become the Region's leading institute for Public Administration education.'

Moreover, Dr. Hatem announced that the Dubai School of Government will be hosting, for the second time, the State of the Region Forum on April 14 where three panels will be discussing the Global Geopolitical shift of power to the East (China, India and Iran), in addition to the State of the Economies in the face of growing competition and rising costs, and reveal a 5 year future scenario based on the Monitor group's Fast Forward Model.

Dr. Barrett commended DSG on their progress and thanked them for working to fostering academic research in the areas of Public Policy.
He added: 'hosting the State of the Region Forum is a good example of these efforts and is a proof of Dubai School of Government's strong will to play a major role in shaping the future of Dubai and the region'.

Dr. Barrett shared with participants his own experiences over the last year, where he mastered many examples of changes to policy that governments have made and their direct and collateral impacts.

Craig Barrett is chairman of the board of Intel Corporation and a leading advocate for improving education in the U.S. and around the world.

He is also a vocal spokesman for the value technology can provide in raising social and economic standards globally and serves as chairman of the United Nations Global Alliance for Information and Communication Technologies and Development.
