Members of the IAPC delegation briefed the Indian Prime Minister on the activities and initiatives undertaken by IAPC in its 22 member countries. Dr. Singh was also informed about the Association's proactive endeavour to uphold the ethics of good journalism across the international media community.

The Dubai Press Club is the founding member of the IAPC and serves as the permanent General Secretariat of the Association. Founded in 2002, IAPC is an independent body that facilitates the creation of a global information network for journalists.

Maryam bin Fahad, Executive Director of Dubai Press Club, said:

"The Association's membership has grown in the last six years from 10 to 22 members, representing diverse regions such as Europe, Far East, Asia, Australia, Americas and the Middle East. The list continues to grow. There is an urgent need to engage more members of the press from various parts of the world and integrate them into the wider global body of IAPC. We believe such participation will catalyse media networking for a broader section of the international press corps".

The 2008 General Assembly of IAPC coincided with the 50th anniversary celebrations of the Foreign Correspondent's Club of South Asia, New Delhi, a member of the International Association of Press Clubs.

Marking its golden jubilee, the Club released a book 'Foreign Correspondent - 50 Years of Reporting from South Asia', published by Penguin Books India.

The International Association of Press Clubs relentlessly seeks to support the interests of journalists, especially those reporting from combat zones.

The IAPC has consistently championed the cause of providing adequate security cover to members of the media working under challenging conditions in politically sensitive areas.

The IAPC annual General Assembly is scheduled to be held in Berlin next year.
