Mubadala selects Aldar to develop Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi

Mubadala Development Company (Mubadala) has awarded Aldar Properties PJSC, the renowned Abu Dhabi-based international property developer, with the funding and development of the Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi (CCAD) on Al Sowa Island.

Site enabling activity has already commenced for this state-of-the-art medical facility, which is set to offer residents of the UAE and the region high end healthcare and cutting edge technology.

Scheduled to be operational in 2011, Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi will include a multi-specialty tertiary care centre and adjacent clinic. An integrated clinic-hospital design will offer local and international patients an environment that combines excellent amenities with world-class medical care.

Cleveland Clinic is ranked among America's top hospital operators by US News and World Report. The project owner, Mubadala, is an investment firm that is helping to diversify Abu Dhabi's economy through capital intensive investments and by building businesses.

"The hospital is a vital part of our planned integrated healthcare delivery network that includes general and multi-specialty hospitals, centres of excellence, clinical support services and primary care/GP clinics. Aldar will deliver a high quality development, which is essential for us to provide outstanding patient experiences".

Local and international patients will be cared for in an environment combing 'seven star' amenities and service standards with the highest quality patient care and superior clinical outcomes.

The hospital is being designed to take advantage of the latest technologies in surgery, imaging, telemedicine and electronic medical records.

The Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi is located on Al Sowa Island adjacent to Al Reem Island, includes a 360 bed inpatient hospital and a 324 room clinic with a total built up area up to 500,000 square meters and will have over 3,000 car parking spaces.

Aldar Properties has over $65bn worth of developments and the largest land bank in Abu Dhabi.

The current property portfolio includes major developments and re-developments within the Abu Dhabi Emirate such as Central Market, Al Raha Beach, Coconut Island, Noor Al Ain, Al Gurm Resort, Al Mamoura - the Mubadala and Environment Agency Abu Dhabi Headquarter Building, as well as the YAS Island project which includes a Warner Bros and a Ferrari theme park.
