Sharjah Tourism to co-organize and sponsor Sharjah Heritage Day

Sharjah Commerce and Trade Development Authority SCTDA is taking a leading part in promoting the Sharjah Heritage Days which will take place in Sharjah 12 to 26 of April 2008.

The SCTDA is keen to support this event which proved a tremendous success in offering a valuable insight into the ancestors' lives.

The authority is co-organizing the SHD, in association with Heritage Directorate- Department of Culture and Information at the Government of Sharjah, with the mutual aim recreate UAE customs to visitors and residents, alike, to achieve locally and internationally awareness of the UAE folk heritage and to highlight the value of this cultural and natural heritage and the role it plays in shaping the identity of the UAE individuals.

Speaking on this occasion, H.E. Mr. Mohamed Ali Al Noman, Director General of the SCTDA, said:

"We are committed to significantly contribute in making the SHD a success through our continuous endeavors to promote the event since it was first launched. The SHD mirrors the UAE heritages in an ideal way and plays a vital role in boosting the already established leading position of the emirate on the world tourism map, as a high profile tourist destination".


"The generous sponsorship of H.H Dr. Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qassimi, UAE Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah to "Sharjah Heritage Days" as well as other cultural activities and programs has made the emirate of Sharjah a cosmopolitan center of civilization that we are proud of. Therefore, we are keen to participate in this event and to promote it, as well", Al Noman added.

"We have launched an extensive promotional campaign for the SHD in different UAE media resources, and will be the sponsor the Eastern Region's diverse activities and the exclusive sponsor of Kalba's activities. This reflects our dedication to develop all the strategies that aim to attract tourists into the emirate. Within this context we support and sponsor major local activities which shed lights on the rich heritage in the Cultural Capital of the Arab World", he said.

The SCTDA will exhibit through a stand at the Heritage District where the authority will provide information about the emirate, highlight the activities and tourist facilities in Sharjah and distribute promotional publications for its visitors- tourists and residents alike.

The SCTDA has been committed to support the event since it was first launched in 2003, as the objectives and missions of the SHD are in harmony with the authority's strategy to promote Sharjah as a leading regional tourist destination for its unique cultural and heritage identity.

The SCTDA was participating in international tourist and travel fairs and exhibitions through pavilions featuring eye catching heritage inspired designs, and were always met with a tremendous interest and response from thousands of visitors.
