Organized by Channels Exhibitions, PhotoWorld - Dubai 2008 brought together over 100 international exhibitors from 16 countries. The exhibition, which ends today, offers a unique platform for photography professionals to share ideas, experiences and purchase the latest digital imaging innovations and products.
The free workshops and seminars, held on-the-hour on all three days of the exhibition, were also a major hit with visitors and exhibitors partaking of various salient features of digital imaging from the experts. The seminars were conducted by expert imaging professionals from Society of Wedding & Portrait Photographers-UK (SWPP) and the British Professional Photographers' Association (BPPA).
In his comments, Gopal Sudhakaran of Grand Stores, which is showcasing Nikon, Fujifilm, SanDisk, Leaf, Sigma, Tamrac and Benro products at the exhibition, said:
"I have seen exceptional traffic at this show which is very encouraging for us. It is a good opportunity for us to showcase our latest products to the regional market and establish ourselves as a strong player in the regional landscape. PhotoWorld is a good platform for us to increase awareness of our products."
Similar views were echoed by Raj, Director of Intuit Technology LLC. He said: "The quality of buyers is good and this is our fourth year in succession. We have received very positive enquiries for our new product - Drobo of Data Robotics. It is a completely new personal storage hard disk working on hot replacement theory. We have also showcased the latest WACOM interactive pen display products for working in creative digital applications."
Satish Narayan from National Stores, the distributors of Canon products, said the response for their products at the exhibition was good. "We have brought some very high-end cameras for the visitors to touch and feel. Also on show are individual products and complete networked technology solutions for information input, management and output. A special clinic for Canon customers for checking and cleaning their SLR cameras was also a great hit with visitors."
Slizard Szalay from Sony Middle East, which showcased its entire range of digital photo printer line up and the latest AV camera solutions for the wedding & event organizer sector, said: "The event has been a good platform for professional applications. Sony has unveiled a vast array of printers for photographers who are looking to print larger and clearer photos more quickly with high quality, a range of systems ideally suited to retail outlets, business and commerce, besides the latest cameras and video-audio portable switches."
In his comments, Mr Justin Boutros, Managing Director of Channels Exhibitions, said: "We are very happy with the response generated at the show and it has opened up new business opportunities and avenues for both the exhibitors and visitors. PhotoWorld - Dubai 2008 is the only digital imaging exhibition of its kind in the region is supported by leading photographers and graphic artists' associations, including the locally-based Light Chasers and the Qatar Photographic Society.
