The official opening follows an extensive expansion of the EEMEA Sales Team and a centralization of resources in Bahrain, to allow the company to be closer to its markets and enhance customer response times.

The team of dedicated specialists has been relocating to Bahrain over the past year, from across the DHL international network, to be based physically in the EEMEA region. Operations began in the new office on March 1st 2008 and the facility is now fully functional with a total of 32 team members on board.

The opening was attended by Middle East Area Management Executives, DHL EEMEA Aviation Management as well as the EEMEA Sales Management.

David A. Wilson, Sales Director, EEMEA commented: "It is a great pleasure to have our Sales and Commercial Teams for Eastern Europe, Middle East and Africa centralized here in Bahrain. As the Middle East is the biggest area in our region, and Bahrain has held a strategic position at the centre of our business in the Middle East for 30 years, it is a natural choice to consolidate operations here. We are on the doorsteps of two of our largest markets and with an excellent transport infrastructure, and a high quality living environment; this move is popular with all.

EEMEA is one of the fastest growing regions for DHL Express. We have an average of 40% market share across the EEMEA region and with our continued investment in people and facilities we are constantly improving our services to continually increase market share," concluded Wilson.
