NGI conducts seminar on construction risks

National General Insurance (NGI), a Dubai based insurance company, has recently organised a Seminar on Construction Risks for the benefit of Contractors, Developers and Project Managers in the U.A.E.

The speakers included Mr. Christian Bendel, an Engineering Underwriter from Munich Re who spoke on the topic of Fire Protection and Loss Prevention at Construction sites and Mr.

Horst Simon, Risk Technology Consultant of Mashrek who spoke on the subject of Operational Risk Review in Construction Business. Other speakers were Mr. Mark Smith of Whitelaw Loss Adjusters and Mr. Rob Tolley of United Insurance Brokers, London.

Dr. Abdul Zahra A. Ali, General Manager of NGI stated that with the massive developments taking place in Dubai and other Emirates and also with the accumulation of construction sites it is pertinent to facilitate awareness on the potential risk of fire at construction sites and the measures that various parties involved in the construction industry are expected to implement as loss prevention.

The presentation was well received by the attendees and has proven to be beneficial to the construction industry, he added.

The Seminar was concluded with a note that with the series of fire losses happening recently in Dubai all reasonable measures are required to be taken to avoid such serious losses in the construction sites.
