The Tamaiaz Award, which was launched in November 2007, is one of the most lucrative in the UAE, with an annual budget of Dhs1m. Entries for this year's awards close on 30 April and the prize pool will be divided amongst 35 winners - five from each of the seven categories of: media and mass communications, banking and finance, accounting and auditing, Sharia'a and law, information technology, marketing and sales, and leadership
The careers exhibition was launched in 2000 and this will be Mawarid's first year of participation. Mawarid will participate in the Financial Services category.
'Mawarid will be offering its expertise at Careers UAE 2008, which we see as an important platform for the growth of Emiratisation in the UAE. We are proud to be involved and to help showcase the local talent. It also provides valuable personal interaction with students, who we see as Dubai's future leaders and decision-makers,'
Fatma Bin Fahd, Vice President, Human Resources and Administration Affairs at Mawarid Finance said.
The company, which was established in 2006, has risen to prominence for its Emiratisation strategies which are in line with the mandate of HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, UAE Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, in the 'Dubai Strategic Plan (2015)'
The strategic plan identifies seven core development areas for social development and these include increasing the participation of nationals in the workforce and ensuring all nationals have access to quality education opportunities.
Mawarid's Emiratisation policies extend all the way to the boardroom - at least 30 per cent of its staff are UAE nationals and more than 70% of executive positions are held by nationals.
Mawarid Finance is the only finance company in the UAE that is completely independent. Through its structure as an integrated financial institution that specialises in providing all services related to finance and business, it offers many opportunities for banking and finance students.
The three-day exhibition is exclusively for UAE national students and is the leading recruitment, training and education exhibition in the region. Last year, there were 17,000 visitors and this year is expected to draw even more visitors, due to a 40% growth in exhibition area to 14,000 sq metres.
