DTCM apprises travel agents about Dubai Infrastructural Developments

Mr. Aly El Zayat, the Director of the Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has briefed the managers and officials of the major travel agencies of Riyadh about the key factors that made Dubai a successful destination in tourism and especially MICE.

He was speaking as keynote speaker at the educational workshop organized by DTCM Riyadh for Travel Trade recently.

Around 10 managers and officials of the major travel agencies of the city attended the workshop.

He also highlighted the latest infrastructural developments that have evolved in Dubai land, Dubai International Airport, Dubai Metro and Dubai World Central.

Referring to the increasing number of tourists and hotel guests in Dubai, Mr. Aly El Zayat also spoke about the branding and positioning of Dubai as world's leading leisure and business destination.

In his presentation, the Director of DTCM KSA said that Dubai airport received 34.34 million passengers in 2007 against 28.78 million arrived in 2006.

Similarly, he added that the average room occupancy last year was over 82.3% whereas the occupancy rate exceeded 90% during the summer months in beach hotels.

Dubai hotels extended hospitality to 7 million guests in 2007, earning over Dhs13.262m.

Keeping in view these developments, Mr. El Zayat said, it seams easy to achieve the ambitious target of 10 million tourists by 2010 and 15 million by 2015.

This would help make Dubai as number one tourism and leisure destination across the globe, he added.
