- PRESS RELEASE
Crowne Plaza Muscat has designed its latest initiative to encourage all staff and guests to 'Go green'.
Mr. David Todd, General Manager at CPM said: "Guest rooms and hotels in general can produce surprisingly large amounts of waste everyday and most of the material thrown away is recyclable. Our industry discards large quantities of recyclable wastes, including cardboard boxes; plastic and glass bottles, aluminum and steel cans, cooking oil, and office paper. We have already started to collect and store paper which, with the assistance of Aste, will be brought to India where it will be processed and recycled."
Nida Helou, Manager at the Environment Society of Oman added: "The hospitality industry is a vital partner in our efforts to reduce the environmental impact of our day-to-day life and the Crowne Plaza Muscat's outstanding future vision and efforts prove they are committed to being good stewards of the environment and the economy. We hope many more hotels in the Sultanate will follow their excellent example."
The Crowne Plaza Muscat management and staff fully support waste reduction; a recycling committee has been formed with representatives from each of the various departments: management, housekeeping, maintenance, laundry, and food and beverages.
"By recognizing that we are part of the planet, not simply part of an industry; we are 100% committed to offering travelers and guests the option of an eco-friendly stay with all the amenities and services our customers require. Crowne Plaza Muscat's future plans also include plastic and aluminum recycling and we look forward to working alongside the broader Omani community to help retain Oman's natural beauty while supporting the global 'green' effort" concluded David Todd.
